Help, Someone Stole My P̶e̶a̶c̶e̶

Piece

Sometimes, I am quick to point the blame when it comes to me being in a bad mood. I say things like "It was her fault because she didn't speak kindly to me over the phone!"

Here is another good one, "My husband has done it again. Now he's hurt my feelings and my whole day is going to be a mess!"

Oh, I can point the finger pretty well, as most of us can. What's funny is the fact that after I'm done pointing the finger, I am still left with the truth, staring me back in the face.

I mean, can you picture it? I'm in the mirror and as I'm putting on my daily facial moisturizer, I'm looking at myself, saying to myself..."Self, no one can take your peace unless you freely give it!"

I am sometimes embarrassed once I realize this! How silly of me to think that one person would have that much control of me, when I don't even have it, myself!

Sometimes, all we need to understand is that people can sometimes upset us, maybe even make us as angry as an angry bird, but all that can be taken is a just a mere piece of our happiness, not our entire peace. They do not have that kind of power!

I said I was going to refrain from scripture as much as I can in this area, so here's my attempt.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27).

This kind of peace can only be given from above, not taken away through circumstances or persons. This kind of peace is what dwells on the inside no matter what our outside condition may bring.

This is the kind of peace that calms our spirits when we should be raging during death seasons. The kind of peace that moves in midst of turmoil situations. The kind of peace that tells us on the inside, everything will be okay. And you don't just feel it, but you are made to know it.

Because it cannot be moved by any man!
