Day 21
Some things we experience in life can be a bit intimidating when we think about it. There may be distressing times in your life where you wish you had your mama to help explain how to help you through them. But some things even mama can't explain. Nor can her mama. They've never experienced it. It was never for them to experience. These are life changing experiences specifically designed for you to handle in such a way to change the face of your generation!
And then there are other times when what you are experiencing, your mama, her mama, and her mama may have experienced the same things. But responding to those experiences can be quite different than what you were accustomed to. Your approach toward your experiences may go against the norm of your family line. You're different. And you may even be rejected for your uniqueness in how you respond to different situations in your life. And that is okay. Maybe God made you this way. God set a plan in place to use you to stretch above and beyond what any generation before you has ever done!
To provide an example of God using people to change the face of their generation, I want to talk about the life of Joseph.
God designed Joseph to be different than what the generations in his family had experienced. At first, his life didn't seem different at all: he was a part of a blended family situation as in other parts of his generation, he was a younger brother who was loved more than his older siblings as in previous generations. So for a while, things seemed to look the same.
It wasn't until unfortunate circumstances when Joseph's brothers sold Joseph to the Midianites and were taken to Egypt. It's amazing how such misfortune could land you into becoming the prince of Egypt over an entire realm! But this was God's plan for Joseph all along, as He used Joseph to change the face of his generation, bringing them into a prosperity which had never been experienced by the generations before him. They were able to partake in the prosperity of the greatest area of the world in their time, the land of Egypt! Joseph's posterity continued on through his sons Ephraim (youngest) and Manasseh (oldest). So Joseph set the stage for many generations after him. In fact, many successful kings reigned on the throne as part of Joseph's life changing experiences!
You see, God sets plans in place for you to be used in this way, too! It's not always about continuing a legacy which has been passed down to you, God wants you to be different. You were designed to go above and beyond to what has never been experienced before you by previous generations. After all, isn't this what Jesus came to do? And it states in the Bible that greater works will we be able to achieve on this earth even beyond what Jesus did! (John 14:12). And this is Jesus we're talking about! How can we top that? This can only be accomplished through God's power, might, and His spirit!
So do you understand God's plan for your life on today? I can bet, He is calling you to be different in whatever platform He provides you to be in! Being different doesn't have to mean being misguided. As we begin to follow the plans of God for our lives, our "being different" means changing the face of our generation!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for calling me to be different and to stand out amongst the sameness. Help me not to put you in a box as you take me out of my element to change the face of my generation. I ask that you would provide understanding for me in midst of what you are doing in me. And that you would help me not to fight against your plan for my destiny! In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!
Quiet time meditation: Wait for the Lord to minister to you personally on what He may want to say to you. Be sure to pay attention to any areas that may pop up in your spirit (even silly things such as: how quick you may be to get angry with things or a friend or family member who has been bugging you with their problems.) This process could take anywhere from 10-30 minutes or longer. But, try not to rush this because you could be missing out on a great breakthrough. Within this quiet time, the Lord wants to restore you in any broken areas and he wants to replenish your spirit for what has been used up.
Understanding what He means: This is a time to jot down some of those things the Lord has ministered to you while in meditation. Sometimes, the Lord will wait to speak to you throughout your day. Pay attention and jot these things down so that you won’t forget. You may even come up with more scriptures that may come to mind.
